Everyday Struggles are real.
Life as a neurodivergent family is a beautiful, chaotic, ever-evolving adventure. Some days, it feels like we’ve found our groove—other days, it’s a battle just to get everyone out the door. If you’re here, chances are you understand that balance all too well.
We’re a family navigating the world with neurodivergent kids, which means our reality often looks a little different from the typical parenting journey. In our home, Autism and ADHD aren’t just labels—they’re part of our everyday lives, shaping the way we learn, communicate, and experience the world together.
The Systems We’re Navigating
Parenting any child comes with challenges, but when you add in the complexity of neurodivergence, the world doesn’t always feel built for us. We’ve spent years trying to navigate systems that are supposed to offer support but often leave families feeling lost, exhausted, and overlooked.
- Education – From IEPs to funding applications, advocating for the right support in schools can feel like a full-time job.
- Services Australia & the NDIS – These systems promise assistance, but the reality is often long waitlists, endless paperwork, and a constant fight to prove our children’s needs.
- Therapies & Interventions – Speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology—the list goes on. Finding the right support (without breaking the bank) is a struggle many families know all too well.
Despite the obstacles, we believe in pushing forward. We believe in celebrating the small wins, the breakthroughs, and the joy that comes from truly understanding and supporting our kids for who they are.
Why We Started This Blog
We know we’re not alone in this journey, but some days, it can feel that way. That’s why we created Finding Our Family Rhythm—to build a space where parents, caregivers, and neurodivergent individuals can find comfort, solidarity, and maybe even a little humour along the way.
This blog is a place for:
✔️ Honest conversations about parenting neurodivergent kids
✔️ Tips for navigating systems that weren’t designed with us in mind
✔️ Sharing the wins (big and small) that make it all worth it
✔️ Reminding each other that we are doing enough, even when it doesn’t feel like it
So, whether you’re here for guidance, connection, or just to know you’re not the only one questioning why everything is so damn complicated—you are welcome here.
Let’s find our rhythm together. 💛
